Step 2: Slowly Reduce Heartburn Pills.

Switch to one PPI pill every other day and introduce Slippery elm together with it. Look at the slippery elm remedy description below in this report. When I had severe heartburn I just sipped one cup of slippery elm before going to sleep. This prevented nighttime heartburn in most of the cases.

Do not eat 3 (better 4) hours before going to bed. This is a key requirement almost as strong as excluding acidic food from your diet. Since during second month we're slowly trying to get off PPIs we need to introduce some components which will help you to fight your nighttime heartburn. Not eating 3-4 hours before going to sleep will guarantee that all food was digested and you will have minimal amount of acid in your stomach.

If nighttime heartburn gets worse raise head of your bed 10-20 inches or purchase wedge pillow. For more information on wedge pillow see a chapter on it below.
